During the week I have been thinking about "consistency in our spiritual practice" and how beneficial it is. We know with any skill, consistency with practice is usually necessary. Skills can include almost anything such as learning to cook a new recipe, learning how to play golf or tennis, improve our yoga postures, or be better at being quiet.
The reason "practice" improves performance is due to the flexibility and adaptability of our neurons. When we "practice" anything, we are creating new connections in our "mainframe" computing center, our brain. Over time, we are able to relax and be better with any skill.
As we all know, any kind of practice takes patience and repetition. So, we improve by doing something that may feel tedious or boring. But it does pay off. In this podcast, I offered some suggestions about working with the repetitive aspect of your meditation practice that may be helpful.
Have a Wonderful Week.
